I must admit, I am a fanatic for anything that sparkles. I am especially smitten with vintage rhinestone jewelry – the kind with those perfect, crystal clear, and unbelievably stunning rhinestones that have not yellowed even the slightest after many years of wear. However, those are rare and quite a treasure when you find them.
When I am scavenging for vintage jewelry, I have a tendency to only buy pieces that are the perfect size for remaking into a ring. I love wearing a ring that makes a statement!
During one of my weekend antique shopping trips, I noticed a large brooch that dazzled beyond description from several feet away. I immediately walked over to get a better look at it. It was a gorgeous vintage piece from the 1950s, but unfortunately, too big to remake into a ring.
That is when my imagination kicked in and I thought, What a fabulous bracelet this could be! I bought it right then and there and could not wait to get home with my prized purchase to see just how I could repurpose this magnificent brooch.
I never would have thought it would be possible to add any additional sparkle to such eye-catching glitz. When I contemplated the best way to transform it into a beautiful bracelet, I chose to use an expandable rhinestone bracelet, also from the 1950s, as the base:
Being as smitten with sparkle as I am, I was delighted to see that it was actually possible to add even more sparkle to it!
The women of the ’50s really knew what true glamour was all about…an era that could be brought back to life simply through repurposing timeless sparkle.
